Organisations
What an organisation admin sees under Organisations, and how they manage the organisation's admins.
Organisations own groups, courses and users. Administration → Organisations (/admin/organizations) shows an organisation admin only the active organisations they administer.
The list and the organisation panel
Section titled “The list and the organisation panel”The list shows Name, Prefix, Groups, Users and Courses. Select an organisation to open its panel on the right:
- Details: the Username prefix, the creation date, the number of groups and users (linking to their lists), the number of courses and, for an organisation merged during the import, Imported as.
- Organisation admins: the list of admins and their actions.
- The Groups and Users buttons open the organisation’s groups and users.
You only see the organisation’s name, prefix and archive state; a system administrator changes them.
Organisation admins
Section titled “Organisation admins”Admins manage the organisation’s users, groups, courses and admins.
To add an admin
- In the organisation panel, select Add admin.
- Find and choose a member of the organisation.
- Select Make admin.
You can choose only active accounts that are already members of the organisation. Only a system administrator can make someone from outside an admin.
To remove an admin role
- In the admin’s row menu, choose Remove admin role….
- Confirm with Remove admin role.
The person stays in the organisation as a teacher but can no longer manage it. If you remove your own role, you lose access to this organisation’s administration at once.
The only admin can’t be removed: “The only admin can’t be removed here. Add another admin first.”
What only a system administrator does
Section titled “What only a system administrator does”- Creates organisations and changes their name and username prefix.
- Archives and restores organisations. The admins of an archived organisation can no longer manage it; its groups, users and history stay.
- Reviews Needs attention: organisations merged during the legacy import, courses without an organisation, and users who belong to no organisation.
- Adds users to organisations and makes people from outside an organisation its admins.
- Removes an organisation’s last admin.
