Quiz results

A quiz's results table, reviewing an attempt, grading open answers and files, leaving-window data and the CSV exports.

Open a quiz’s results by selecting the quiz on the Quizzes page (/teaching/<course>/quizzes/<quiz>). All course staff see them; a group admin sees only their own groups’ students.

At the top is a summary: Submitted N of M, how many students are taking the quiz right now, how many attempts await grading, and the average score. You can narrow the students by group.

The table has a row per student and shows their latest attempt:

Column What it shows
Student Name, group and number of attempts
State Not started, In progress, Awaiting review, Graded or Submitted
Points, % Points earned and the percentage
Pass mark Passed or Not passed (when a pass mark is set)
Time used How long the attempt took
Exits, Time away, First exit, Last exit Only when leaving the window is recorded

An attempt whose time has run out is finished automatically (“Submitted when time ran out”) as soon as someone opens the results or the student’s quiz page. The table updates by itself.

The buttons at the top are Export and Edit (Settings for those who can’t change the quiz). A draft’s results say “Students do not see this quiz yet. Publish it in the editor.”

Selecting a student opens their attempt:

  • State, Started, Finished (for a running attempt, “Running, ends by …”), Time used;
  • Points (and how many questions need grading), Percent, Pass mark (“After grading” until everything is graded);
  • Mark (out of 10): the share of points times 10, rounded; set only when no question is waiting for grading;
  • the student’s other attempts;
  • Leaving the window: when it is recorded;
  • Questions: each question as the student saw it, with their answer, the correct answer and the points.

Open answers and uploaded files are graded by hand (an empty open answer gets 0 automatically). Other questions are graded automatically.

  1. On the attempt page, select the link to a question that needs grading (the page says how many answers need it).
  2. Enter the Points, or select Full or 0.
  3. Optionally write a Comment for the student; it is shown with the student’s detailed results.
  4. Select Save grade.

You can change the points of any question, automatically graded ones too; the total follows. Only a finished attempt can be graded (“The attempt is still in progress; you can grade it once it is finished.”).

Course owners and teachers can grade. Other staff only see the results.

When a quiz in an assessment topic records leaving the window, you see:

  • how many times the student left and how long they were away;
  • the first and the last exit;
  • the causes: Tab hidden or window minimised, Window inactive, Page closed or left; when the student did not come back before the end, that is marked.

The file dialog (when uploading a file to a question) doesn’t count as leaving. Going to another page or tab of the app does.

Export offers two CSV files (UTF-8, times in Lithuanian time):

  • Answers (CSV): a row per student, attempt and question: student, username, group, attempt, state, start and finish, question, question group, type, question text, answer, correct answer, points, maximum points, graded by teacher, comment.
  • Leaving-window report (CSV): only when leaving is recorded; a row per attempt with the number of exits, time away (s), the first and last exit, and the kinds of exits.

Only the students you can see are exported.
