Problem list
A course's problems by topic, the view filters, the status icons and the topics' quizzes.
A course’s Problems lists every problem given to you in that course, grouped by topic (address /courses/<course>/problems).
Page header
Section titled “Page header”Under the title you see how many problems are still to do and the next deadline, e.g. “4 problems to do · Next deadline: Loops, …”. When everything is done, you see “Everything is solved.”
The buttons above the list filter the problems. Each shows how many problems it holds.
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| All | Every problem and every quiz in the topics |
| To do | Open problems you haven’t solved, and quizzes you can still start or continue |
| Solved | Problems with the status “Solved” |
The view is part of the address (?view=todo or ?view=solved), so you can bookmark it or open it in a new tab.
Topics
Section titled “Topics”Each topic is its own section. Its header shows:
- the topic’s title, and the “Assessment” badge for assessment topics;
- the topic’s date: the deadline, “Opens …”, “In progress · until …” or “Closed …” (see Topics and deadlines);
- how many problems are solved, e.g. “3 of 8”.
Select a header to collapse or expand the topic. Collapsed topics are remembered in this browser, for each course separately.
Until a topic opens, its problems’ titles are not shown. Instead you see, e.g., “3 problems are shown when the topic opens.”
A problem row
Section titled “A problem row”- Status icon (see the table below).
- Type icon: a code glyph for a programming problem, a green Excel glyph for an Excel task.
- Title and, where it applies, “Assigned to you” or “Extra problem” (see Kinds of problems).
- Best result, e.g. “7/10” – how many tests your best submission passed (points for an Excel task).
- Star – adds the problem to Favorites in the sidebar. It appears when you hover over the row; on a phone it is always shown. Favorites are kept in this browser.
Select a row to open the problem page.
Status icons
Section titled “Status icons”| Icon | Status | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Empty grey circle | Not started | You haven’t submitted anything yet |
| Yellow circle, partly filled | Attempted | You have submitted, but haven’t solved it yet. The filled part shows how many tests your best submission passed, e.g. “3 of 10 tests pass” |
| Green circle with a check mark | Solved | At least one submission got “Accepted” (for an Excel task, full points) |
| Green circle with a check mark | Solved after the deadline | First solved after the topic’s deadline |
| Dashed grey circle | Not open yet | The topic hasn’t started |
The icon’s shape and colour carry the same information, and screen readers read out the status.
Quizzes in topics
Section titled “Quizzes in topics”If your teacher placed a quiz in a topic, it shows at the end of that topic’s problems: with a quiz icon, its title, its time (“Opens …”, “Open until …”, “Closed …”) and the state of your attempts (“Not started”, “In progress”, “Awaiting review”, “Graded”). Select the row to open the quiz’s start page. More in Quizzes.
Keyboard
Section titled “Keyboard”| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Next or previous problem in the list | J / K |
| Open the highlighted problem | Enter |
All shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts for students.
When there are no problems
Section titled “When there are no problems”- The course has no problems yet: “No problems yet”.
- A topic has no problems yet: “No problems in this topic yet.”
- In To do, everything in a topic is solved: “Everything here is done.”
- In Solved, nothing in a topic is solved: “Nothing solved here yet.”
The list updates by itself: when a submission is checked or your teacher changes the topics, you see the change without reloading.
